Writer:LANDER TESTING  View:8524  Addtime:2007-8-29
The Adoption of Mandatory Regulations
To protect human health and improve consumer safety, Netherlands, Austria and Germany have already adopted the mandatory regulations for prohibiting the use of certain azo-colourants and azo-pigments in consumer articles. On 2002September 11 and 2003 January 6, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union (EU) also published the Directives, 2002/61/EC & 2003/3/EC, which restrict the use of carcinogenic azo-colourants in certain textile and leather articles and prohibits the sale of such articles coloured with the restricted azo-colourants. The Directive 2002/61/EC & 2003/3EC has been transposed into national laws and put into effect in the Member States separately by 2003 September 11 and 2004 June 30. Azo-colourants (Aromatic Amine) should be below 30 mg/kg in one or more of 22 aromatic amines. Moreover, blue colorants with index no. 611-070-00-2 should also be restricted to be not more than 1,000 mg/kg in any products.
